Step-free access

The Frederick Douglass Centre has a wide and level entrance with automatic doors. Next to the entrance, there are two large lifts connecting all floors. Accessible seating is available in all rooms. The doors of the rooms are not automatic. During each session, there will be a room monitor for each room who can provide assistance. If you will require assistance and you have not highlighted this already in your registration form, please get in touch.


Speaker area

The height of the lectern at the speaker area is not adjustable. Room monitors will be on hand and can help navigate the slides if need be.


Assistive hearing system

All rooms have hearing loops for hard of hearing. The system will be running automatically as soon as the standard AV system is turned on.


Accessible toilets/Private spaces

- Accessible toilets: There are two accessible toilets on each floor, they are at G.44, G.60, 1.22, 1.45, 2.20 and 2.31.

- Nursing room: The nursing room is on the ground floor at G.51. This room can also be used as a private space for people who need to administer medication.

- Prayer room: There is a prayer room in the Urban Sciences Building which is just opposite to the Frederick Douglass Centre. The key to the prayer room can be obtained from the event reception desk.

- Quiet room: There is a designated quiet room at 2.12 on the second floor for people with sensory disability or those needing a time out.

Power points

There are plenty of power points throughout the venue for charging specialist equipment.


Assistance dogs

Please contact us if you or a guest will be accompanied by an assistance dog. We shall make sure the dog can sit with you comfortably.


Requesting support during the conference

A phone number for attendees with disabilities or special needs to request support during the conference is included in the joining instruction sent to all delegates.
