Launch of Routledge Handbook of Cultural Gerontology

Based on specially commissioned chapters by over fifty leading international authors, the Handbook provides concise authoritative reviews of the key debates and themes shaping this exciting new field of cultural gerontology.

Launch of MICRA co-research booklet

This booklet entitled ‘Researching age-friendly communities: stories from older people as co-investigators’ edited by Tine Buffel, tells the story of older people who have been involved as co-researchers in a study aimed at developing age-friendly neighbourhoods in Manchester. The booklet, based on 68 in-depth interviews with older people experiencing social exclusion and poverty, offers thoughts, practical tips, and critical reflections to inspire ways of rethinking the different ways in which older people can be involved in research and social action to improve the physical and social environment of their neighbourhood. Developed in partnership with the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA) at the University of Manchester and Age-Friendly Manchester, Manchester City Council.
