Important note: The Great North Run is taking place in Newcastle/Gateshead on Sunday 7th September. This means that demand for accommodation during this weekend will be high. We recommend opting for delegate accommodation (see below) or booking early.
Booking for delegate accommodation is now closed.
Delegate accommodation is provided in Northumbria University's New Bridge Street student accommodation at a cost of £88 per night for an en-suite room with double bed, bed and breakfast. Rooms are intended for single occupancy. If you wish to share a room, you may add an additional occupant at a cost of £6.50 per person, but please be advised that the beds are small doubles (4' 6" x 6' 3") so you will need to be good friends!
Breakfast is provided a short walk from the residence, on the Northumbria Campus (Friday 5 September) and in Claude Gibb Hall (Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September). The accommodation is equipped with kitchens with fridge, microwave and cooker; however, other kitchen equipment (e.g. crockery) is not available. (We may be able to organise a limited amount of crockery for delegates with special dietary requirements who need to self-cater - please contact the conference committee to discuss.) Please specify any dietary requirements when booking. Fully kosher meals are not available; however, we can provide vegan meals.
New Bridge Street Residence is located at 97 - 113 New Bridge Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 2SW.
The nearest Metro station is Manors (less than 5 minutes walk). New Bridge Street is also well served by major bus routes.
There is limited parking at New Bridge Street, but there are also spaces at the nearby car park at City Campus East which can be used on a first come, first served basis. Parking permits can be purchased from the New Bridge Street reception and cost £8.50 for the first night and £3.00 each night thereafter. Please note that parking is likely to be in very high demand on Saturday / Sunday.
There is a wide choice of accommodation in Newcastle, although due to the Great North Run this is likely to be very busy/expensive on the Saturday night. It is a small city and so most hotels in the centre or on the Quayside are within easy reach of the conference venues (but will be busy, especially on the Saturday evening). The Q2 bus runs between Newcastle University and Seven Stories: please see our Google map of conference venues to help choose hotels in easy reach.
We recommend the following hotels:
