Sky Arbuthnot

Skylar Arbuthnot is a Newcastle University PhD Student and former U.S. Army Captain. His academic research concerns Roman defensive artillery and fortification architecture. He received his MA from Newcastle University in 2014 and holds a Bachleor’s Degree in classics from Ohio University. Sky’s master’s thesis explored the end of extra-mural settlements on Hadrian’s Wall.
He has contributed to several academic projects concerning the Wall, including two seasons digging on the Roman Temple’s Project at Maryport, serving as a course Mentor on the Hadrian’s Wall MOOC, and acting as project lead for a geophysical survey of the extramural settlement at Beckfoot Roman fort.
