Paul Ezhilchelvan received a Ph.D. degree in computer science in 1989 from Newcastle University. He received a Bachelor of Engineering in 1981 from the University of Madras, India, and a Master of Engineering in 1983 from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He joined the School of Computing Science of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1983, where he is currently a Reader. His research interests are in:

• Graph Databases
• Distributed algorithms,
• Consensus and multicast protocols,
• Concurrency control protocols in databases,
• Crash-tolerant stream processing,
• Performance evaluation and stochastic modelling.
