We have produced a PDF of floorplans of the Armstrong Building at Newcastle University, which is the venue for the TEI2022 conference. Rooms in use by the conference are highlighted. 

The main venue for TEI2022 is the Armstrong Building on the main Newcastle University Campus.

The venue provides many fully-equiped teaching rooms suitable for parallel conference sessions of various sizes.

All rooms are fully-equipped with presenting computers, A/V support (PC, full-sized HDMI connectivity, speakers and projector/display) and the larger lecture theatres additionally include microphones and induction loops. In addition, all rooms are equipped with a telephone to quickly and easily contact the University’s IT Services or A/V team for assistance with any technical issues. Excellent WiFi is available throughout the venue with EduRoam wifi for those whose institutions use it, or The Cloud guest WiFi for those who do not.

 

The Armstrong Building also includes the grand “King’s Hall” (where the University holds its graduation ceremonies – see image below). The Armstrong building has a variety of fully-equipped lecture theatres, seminar rooms, and even attractive board rooms. The main Newcastle University campus is located in the city centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne with a Metro station (Haymarket Station) and the local bus terminal both across the road. 

 

Conference Fire Evacuation Procedure: 

In the event of a fire: 

  1. If you discover a fire, immediately raise the alarm by operating the nearest fire alarm call-point (located at each entrance/exit) and ring 999. If possible contact security on 0191 2086666 (X86666) and inform them that the fire and rescue service has been called.

  • DO NOT attempt to extinguish a fire unless you are trained to do so.

  1. On hearing the fire alarm leave the building IMMEDIATELY via the nearest exit, closing doors and windows where possible and proceed to the fire assembly point.

  • DO NOT use the lift

  • DO NOT stop to collect personal belongings

  • DO NOT re-enter the building until you are told it is safe to do so.

Upon arrival to the venue make yourself familiar with:

  • The nearest fire exit and alternative routes.

  • Location of fire alarm call points.

  • Location of building fire assembly point (Fire Action Notices).

  • Disabled refuge areas.

The weekly Fire Alarm test for the Armstrong Building is: Mondays 8.30 am – 9.15 am
