Dr Andrew Jenkins is Newcastle University’s project manager for the Integrated Transport, Electrical and Gas Research Laboratory, InTEGReL. The project has secured £44.2m of co-investment pledges from collaborating companies and is targeting, through additional funding, the development of a unique 4000m2 University research facility on the site. Andrew is also Managing Director and founder of Kinewell Energy Ltd, providing strategic leadership to the start-up that was Highly Commended by the 2016 IET Innovation Awards for its KLOC software that delivers offshore wind cost reductions up to £30m/GW through deployment of artificial intelligence to cable system design.

Andrew holds a PhD entitled “Energy Storage and Electric Vehicles as a means of Mitigating Uncertainty in Urban Microgrids which he studied for following three years working at the international advisory firm Mott MacDonald.
