Dr Zoya Pourmirza is a Research Associate within the Electrical Power research group within the School of Engineering at Newcastle University. She has worked as RA within the National Centre for Energy Systems Integration (CESI) and has been involved in a variety of research projects such as the Active Building Centre, and teaching projects like Advanced Teaching and training on Smart grid and Grid Integration of Renewable Energy Systems (AT-SGIRES).
Zoya is currently PI on a research project entitled 'Heat as a service: Benefits, Barriers, and Evidence Needs'. Heat as a service is a new business model that has been proposed as a way to help reduce the carbon footprint of heating, allowing customers to utilise a smart heating control system. The project will examine this business model's role in decarbonisation, the challenges of consumer engagement, and regulatory/policy needs for a wider roll-out.
